Description
The Sámi are the original inhabitants of the Kola Peninsula for thousands of years. Their ancestors were nomadic, relying on hunting, fishing, and later reindeer herding for survival. The Sami pouch is a traditional pouch used by the Sami people or various purposes, such as storing meat, coffee, salt, and flour. The pouch traditional design allows for easy access to what is inside even with gloved hands. OPSG has created a updated version for today’s outdoorsman. Modeled after the traditional Sami pouch but with modifications that match the modern needs of outdoorsmen.
The OPSG Sami pouch is made out of waxed canvas and has a drawstring closure system instead of a gather and tie closed system. However, recognizing the traditional Sami pouch closure allows it to be lashed to a saddle, pack or belt via the extra tie length, OPSG left the drawstrings extra-long and separate to allow for this capability. Also, it allows the OPSG Sami pouch to be gather tied as well as drawn closed for an extra secure closure. Additionally, OPSG has slightly tuned in and streamlined the design to allow for simpler construction process. This allows OPSG to produce high quality pouches while offering them to the customer at an extreme value.
