Field Friendly is probably the most fundamental OPSG design concept. The goal is to create items that are functionally versatile and extremely well made. In fact, it sounds odd but I am focused on failure.
See, I know and understand that failure is inevitable. So, by accepting that all things fail in time, I can work to isolate and mitigate the weaknesses in OPSG's products. By accepting failure as an inevitability and for the undeniable constant it is, I can create the most robust products possible.
I am always looking for potential failure points in any given product from concept till it is finally discontinued as part of the OPSG line. I am always looking at products and evaluating them for design weaknesses. When possible I will redesign to remove weaknesses or flaws and mitigate weak points that cannot be designed away or removed. As a result, there is no such thing as a final product design at OPSG.
The result of this constant effort to stare down failure and keep it in check are products that are extraordinarily unlikely to fail. However, in that rare instance when they do fail they are serviceable in the field by anyone with a modicum of skill.

The history of outdoor gear is rich and spans the existence of mankind. The preserved remains of nomadic ancient people have been found with all sorts of stuff we would recognize today as outdoor gear. Everything from pack bundles to pouches, pants to parkas, pack baskets to knives or axes. Over time even though man went indoors and became less nomadic we have never fully left nature and that nomadic instinct behind.
OPSG's Tales of Trails products are my effort to revisit this rich history of mankind innovating gear to overcome the challenges of the outdoors. The goal is to carefully and respectfully update these items for use in our modern times. This brings these excellent pieces of timeless gear to a new audience and a new point in or history.
